Pool Season

Mandalay Bay Beach is now open for the 2024 pool season. The season usually runs until early October. During the cooler months, the Moorea Beach pool is used as Mandalay Bay’s pool.

Check out other MGM pools open year-round here.

Pool Hours

Current pool hours are 9:00am until 6:00pm.

Pool Access

Complimentary access is available for Mandalay Bay and Delana hotel guests. Guest staying at the Four Seasons Las Vegas will also receive complimentary access. Excalibur guests will no longer be granted complimentary Mandalay Bay Beach access. Non-guests renting a cabana or daybed will have their pool admission included in their rental fee.

Non-guest who do not have a reserved seating reservation may pay for pool admission at the following rates.

If you prefer spending your time on the pool deck with guests who are actually staying at your hotel, then consider the MGM Grand Pool Complex, which also has a Lazy River, and tends to be a bit less busy.

Number of Pools

There is 1 Wave Pool, 1 Lazy River, and 3 regular pools as part of the Mandalay Bay Beach Pool Complex. There is also the Moorea Beach Club along with Daylight Beach Club pools which are on property but are not part of the Mandalay Bay Beach pool experience.

If you would like to spend some of your pool time at Mandalay Bay Beach but are looking for a more cost-effective way to do this, then consider staying at the generally less expensive Excalibur hotel and taking the complimentary tram over to Mandalay Bay Beach for the day.

As mentioned earlier, Excalibur guests are granted free access to the Mandalay Bay pools. The Excalibur pool deck is not as extravagant as Mandalay Bay Beach, but it is certainly worth checking out if you are at all budget-conscious. You will find Excalibur Pool information on this recent blog post of mine.

Pool Vibe

Each of these 5 distinct pools seemed to have their own unique feel to them.

Wave Pool

Red loungers with white towels are on the sandy beach. Many hotel guests are enjoying the Beach Pool.

The Wave Pool is by far the largest and busiest pool at the complex. This is a very family-friendly pool that holds over 1.5 million gallons of water which can generate some fairly sizeable wave action. The nearly 3 tons of sand which was bought in to provide that beach feel in the middle of a desert was very well placed and is maintained very well.

There is a fairly sand-free walkway between the sandy beach and the pool entrance which allows for easy walking along the water’s edge. This is a great pool to enjoy if you are a kid or a kid at heart. There is a lot of activity going on at this Wave Pool so if you are looking for some peaceful pool time you may be best to check out one of the other pools.

Lazy River

This pool complex features a pretty impressive Lazy River. Please note that you must be 48 inches or taller to enjoy the Lazy River. You have two options around inner-tube use. One, bring your own inner tube, as long as it is under 48 inches. and blowing it up by the Lazy River air pump station. The line for this pump can be lengthy. The wait was about 20 minutes when I was there. There is, however, a convenient pop-up bar with refreshing beverages just as you reach the air pump station.

The alternative is to buy an inner tube for $20.00 on-site and they will fill it with air for you right in the shop. Your budget and how much you value your time will likely determine which option is best for you.

What I like about the Lazy River is that everyone always seems so happy when they are in it. It’s just some great family fun for all ages. Just remember the height restriction.

If you are finding the Wave Pool and Lazy River a bit too busy for your liking, you can check out the information on the Luxor Pool deck.

Delano Beach Club Pool

Partially submerged large chess pieces are in the center of the pool. Several guest are enjoying cooling off in the pool.

The Delano pool is also family-friendly but is reserved for those guests staying in the Delano Tower. Although this pool is family friendly it is much quieter than either the Lazy River or the Wave Pool. The main feature within this pool is the extra large partially submerged chess board and pieces which you can enjoy without even leaving the water.

There is not a great deal of greenery around this pool deck and you do feel a bit more closed in compared to some of the other pools. Having said that, I found this pool to be the most tranquil and relaxing of all the pools at this resort. But again, it is reserved for Delano guests only.

You will find additional information on the Delano Beach Club Pool in my recent article here.

West Lagoon Pool

Guests of all ages are enjoying the irregular shaped Lagoon Pool.

The West Lagoon Pool is the larger of the two Lagoon Pools. It is located to the right of the Wave Pool and fairly close to the Lazy River. This pool is good for those guests who just want a traditional swimming pool to relax and perhaps cool off in.

It is relatively large and can become fairly busy but was still less crowded and noisy than the Wave Pool. It does have one of the three resort’s hot tubs on this deck which was surprisingly well used, even on a hot summer day.

The East Lagoon Pool is somewhat similar to the West Lagoon Pool, however it is a bit smaller and I found it to be a bit quieter. It is the furthest pool from the entrance and is a bit more hidden than the other Lagoon Pool which may explain why it seemed to be a bit more tranquil.

Although there were quite a few people in and around the pool, the noise level was lower. The remaining two hot tubs are located around this pool and again were surprisingly busy on a very hot summer’s day.

Moorea Beach Club During Winter Season

Once the Mandalay Bay Beach pool complex closes for the pool season, Moorea Beach Club becomes the “general use” pool. I checked this pool out in December and it is a great wintertime pool venue.

There are plenty of free loungers so no need to arrive right at 8:00am to grab a good spot. The pool deck has a really nice and large hot tub which was a popular place for guests of all ages to spend some time in on a cool December day.

Location/ Directions

From the Lobby

  • Take the guest elevators down to the beach level and take a right toward Spa Mandalay.
  • Exit the doors and follow the signs to Moorea Beach Club.
  • Continue along the path to the left of the Mandalay Beach entrance.
  • Moorea Beach pool entrance will be to your right at the bottom of a set of stairs.

If you prefer an indoor pool during the cooler months, check out my post which looks at 9 Vegas hotels with indoor pools.

During the regular pool season, Moorea Beach Club is an Adult Only 21+ Toptional Day Club. For detailed information on Moorea Beach Club, follow the highlighted link.

Daylight Beach Club

Mandalay Bay has a second adult Day Club located just a few hundred yards past the Moorea Beach Club entrance. The Daylight Beach Club is more of a party venue than Moorea Beach and the cost of reserved seating is less expensive.

For more information on Daylight Beach Club, the highlighted link will take you to my article which includes some pricing information. If you prefer an evening pool party experience, check out Daylight Beach Club at Night.

Loungers

Complimentary loungers are available on a first-come basis. Although there are many of these free loungers available, they can fill up pretty quickly, especially on weekends and busy holidays. If you are not prepared to hit the pool right as it opens, or even join the line before it opens, then you may want to consider a reserved seating option.

Reserved Seating Options

A variety of reserved seating options are available. Reserved seating guarantees you pool entrance even on those days when the maximum capacity of the pool deck has been reached. It also ensures that all of the members of your group are sitting together.

As with most reserved seating in Las Vegas, pricing can be very dynamic, particularly on weekends and holidays. Below are some sample pricing for the various reserved seating options available. As pricing can fluctuate, always check the current Mandalay Bay reserved seating pricing and availability for the date which you are interested in.

Prices below were as of March 15, 2024 for the midweek date of Wednesday May 15, 2024 and the weekend date of Saturday May 18, 2024. These prices are rental fees only. Meaning that any food and beverages ordered are billed in addition to the rental fee.

If you like the idea of a reserved seating option without a food or beverage minimum while enjoying a pool where only guests are permitted, then consider The Signature at MGM.
